"Perishable skills" are defined as abilities or knowledge that decline over time without regular practice or updates. These skills are particularly vital in fields where quick, impactful action is required, such as emergency response, medical procedures, law enforcement, and military operations. Regular training, simulations, and refreshers are crucial for maintaining these skills to ensure proficiency and up-to-date practices.

The degradation of these skills from lack of use can have serious implications, especially in professions where they are vital for saving lives or ensuring safety.
