This two-week course furnishes the requisite expertise, comprehension, and aptitudes for those engaged or aspiring to be Close Protection Operatives working within the Private Security Sector, aligning with UK standards.

It is structured for those aged 21 and above, who have the capability to assume the responsibilities of a Close Protection Operative able to coordinate with emergency services and manage conflicts during their assignments. Thus, proficient communication abilities are paramount for such professionals.

All testing procedures will take place in English. Training centres bear the duty to validate the English competency of participants before initiating their assessment.

Potential candidates should exhibit aptitude at level 2 or above and must also adhere to the health and physical criteria designated for the hands-on segments of Units 1 and 2 in the Close Protection program.

Close Protection Operatives are entrusted with safeguarding specific individuals or groups, such as VIPs, celebrities, business magnates, or any others potentially at risk and these are the pivotal competencies required for this profession.

  • Situational Awareness: Constant vigilance and environmental awareness are essential to pre-emptively recognize threats or escalating situations.
  • Risk Evaluation and Handling: It's vital to be able to gauge potential risks, accounting for the client's profile, surrounding dangers, and other associated threats.
  • Physical Vigor: High physical endurance is required, especially when having to intervene or swiftly move the client from perilous circumstances.
  • Defensive Driving Proficiency: Close Protection Operatives often ensure the secure transit of their clients, necessitating top-tier driving capabilities, evacuation routes knowledge, and occasionally, evasive driving methods.
  • Interpersonal Abilities: Effective communication with the client, team members, and emergency personnel is essential.
  • Tactical Acumen: Some scenarios may demand knowledge in tactical manoeuvres, self-defence, and restraining strategies.
  • Discretion and Secrecy: Given their proximity to eminent personalities, Close Protection Operatives must uphold discretion and confidentiality.
  • Planning Prowess: Tasks like route planning, venue security checks, and ensuring safe travel necessitate robust organizational skills.
  • Legal Knowledge: It's imperative to be conversant with relevant laws of the state/country of operation.
  • Conflict Mitigation: The aptitude to pacify intense scenarios and achieve non-violent resolutions is critical.
  • Patience and Composure: Long durations of observance might be necessary, demanding sustained professionalism even under pressure.

For those interested, the QNUK Level 3 First Person on Scene International can be included in the package for an extra £395, extending the duration by another 4 days.

If you're considering working in the UK, an SIA license is a prerequisite. You have the option to include the extra modules which as of October 2022, are mandatory for all operatives working in the UK. This can be added for an extra £350, extending the duration by a further 3½ days.

Villiers Campus is on the banks of the Vaal River close to the Town of Villiers and includes both the Training Centre and Self-Catered Accommodation provided at no additional charge and includes full uncapped WiFi, however you will be responsible for providing your own food and refreshments.
