Our newly developed "Listen and Learn" audiobooks, created specifically for our students, provide a more dynamic and engaging learning experience compared to traditional PowerPoint presentations, which can often feel static and text-heavy. Featuring a conversational tone and expert insights, our podcasts present content in a way that is both relatable and memorable.
The audio format offers enhanced flexibility, allowing students to absorb information while managing their daily activities. It promotes active learning, critical thinking, and better retention, making it an excellent resource for mastering complex concepts.
The mandatory contact time required by the SIA is 12 hours provided that you hold a valid Emergency First Aid at Work qualification (or higher) that includes Emergency Response, adhering to recommendations R140 and R141.
Additionally, the qualification must cover security-specific topics such as serious incident triage, managing spiking incidents, and handling acid attacks. You must also have completed the ACT E-learning and the required self-study, for which we have developed the Listen & Learn Audiobooks available to be streamed online.
This qualification has been developed by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) in partnership with its approved Awarding Organisations, including QNUK. Learners who successfully complete this qualification will be eligible to apply for an SIA licence, enabling them to work in the private security sector in the United Kingdom, supporting roles in the workplace.
This qualification is specifically designed for individuals who already hold a Door Supervisor licence and need to complete the ‘Refresher’ qualification for relicensing. It will be available from 1st October 2024 and will become mandatory on 1st April 2025. This qualification directly supports professional roles in the security sector.
The qualification is officially endorsed and developed by the SIA in collaboration with its recognised Awarding Organisations, including QNUK, Pearson, Laser, SFJ, Highfield Qualifications, and BIIAB. While available internationally, the qualification's relevance to an SIA licence applies only to England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and UK territories where an SIA licence is required (e.g., British embassies).
Due to differences in the legal systems of Scotland and Northern Ireland compared to England and Wales, relevant sections of the qualification are tailored accordingly. However, employers may not always be aware of which version of the qualification their employees have completed. Therefore, the SIA advises that both security operatives and their employers remain informed about the legal requirements and systems specific to the region in which they operate.
